Cancun 旅遊 09/19/2011---照片

Day 3, 09/19/2011:

Day 3 was the best day of our five-day trip. Xcaret is supposed to be the most popular eco-archaeological park in Cancun. It offers many attractions, exhibitions and nature activities. One day is simply not enough to explore them all.

We left our hotel at 7:00AM in a mid-sized van on a private ride to Xcaret. In the van for nearly two hours we sang whatever songs that popped up in our mind. From the video clips you can tell those songs are ancient, some are older than our age. We sang, we laughed, we joked, we teased…having so much fun like young kids again…haha…

At the park, we started off with a short walk on a tropical jungle trail, followed by a boat cruise. Snorkeling and swimming in the underground rivers became the next activity and the most breathtaking event of the day. The water is 5 ft deep with exits every here and there for people to stop and take a break, or get out of the rivers. We all wore life vest even though the water is not deep. The nice cool water and the first time experience of swimming underground cheered up the whole group and totally evaporated any concern of safety, especially the thought of a snake bite would scare off the ladies as someone mentioned afterward. We talked, played and swam along the rivers, stop and go, for at least 45 minutes before we cut short the journey at an exit only a minute away from the ending point. Regrettably, we did not bring an aquatic camera to take pictures. We did, however, pay for a couple of group pictures taken at two nice spots by soliciting photographers which turned out really nice.

After returning life vests/snorkeling equipment and a quick wash, we retrieved our dry clothes which were delivered to us in bags. We then went to enjoy a buffet meal at a nice sea-food eating place by the beach. We all gave a high score on food quality, especially the beef so tender and tasty, thanks to the river swimming resulting in an empty stomach. Before long we realized we had left our cameras in the lockers at the river entrance. Consequently, the next two hours of sightseeing and activities could only be temporarily registered in our mind, and will soon be forgotten. Someone suggested we quickly walk back to retrieve our cameras, but by the time we got there, it was almost time to watch the night show with dinner for which we already paid extra US$39 in VIP seats. Our group changed Việt Kẹo Kéo’s hat to one of VIP only to find out later that the dinner was not good, far below the quality of a bowl of “phở.” Haha…The show is spectacular to anyone who understands/pays attention to historic events in general. For our group, there was no comment or discussion about the show in the two-hour ride back to the hotel.
